Mountains and sweet beer

We climbed a mountain today.

Peter's parents arrived (Ilsa and Kurt) and along with Iris' mother and step father, we climbed... some mountain. Not that you can easily distinguish, because to me it all looks like one great big mountain.

Tough work, this mountain climbing. The temperature was around the high twenties, with a dank and heavy feel to the air due to the humidity. I'm essentially very unfit, but my recovery times are much better than my strength or stamina. So I tried running up certain sections, which didn't work quite as well as I'd hoped for an 'easy' way up the mountain.

About 3/4 of the way up there's a really cool restaurant where we had drinks on the way up and lunch on the way down. Great view.

I'm not sure if it was an altitude thing, but at 2000 meters above sea level, this beer tasted awfully sweet.

The first thing I did as we left the restaurant on our return trip was to twist my ankle fairly badly. So Peter's 60-year-old mum lent me her walking sticks. Very manly.

The best part was the toboggan ride - halfway down you can hire a sled and ride the toboggan track down. Lots of fun!

Here's a few panoramas and other shots from the mountain:
