First day in Barcelona
We arrived in Barcelona last night. At 11pm, when we had dinner at a road-side Tapas bar on Passeg De Sant Joan, where we're staying, it was still teeming. This on a Tuesday night.
Breakfast at the pension isn't until 9.30. Love it.
We've walked for about 12 hours straight today and seen some pretty amazing sights. Barcelona is a must-see city. Even the naked guy riding home from the beach on a pushbike was a treat.

The first place we went to today was Gaudi's La Pedera, an absolute masterpiece of the fusion of art and architecture. Words can't describe it, but it's the best tour I've done in Europe and included a trip around one of the apartments.
In the distance from the rooftop of La Pedera, we could also see the Sagrada Familia, Gaudi's finest and as of now, nearly a century later, unfinished work.
I could've skipped La Rambla, the main tourist street and the Museum of Contemporary Art was a bit of a waste of time. Jus and I just don't have the patience for it - I think that whoever comes up with this crap really needs more sex.
Another highlight was finding, quite by accident, one of the culinary treats Maya told us to look out for. Although we'd had plenty of (really excellent) tapas throughout the day, we finally came across this little deli which stocked one of the true Spanish delicacies, Jamon Iberica - a cured meat, best served directly carved off the leg bone, it comes from pigs fed a diet of acorns and costs about 100 Euros a kilo. We grabbed some, along with a 100g of Monchego cheese (a sheep cheese) - truly, amazingly incredible. We don't have anything like this in Australia.
